Welcome to the 7th International Conference on Accounting and Finance (ICAF), which will be held in Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Indonesia on 25-26 August 2021. The conference offers a great opportunity to bring together professors, researchers and scholars around the globe, have a great platform to deliver the latest innovative research results and the most recent developments and trends in Accounting and Finance, specifically in the digitalization era. The Conference is fully supported by Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta and The Association of Accounting Department of Muhammadiyah Universities (APSA PTM).
The 7th ICAF UMY 2021 is conceptualized by combining some activities including international conference, call for paper and academicdiscussion. Furthermore, this conference covers several highly related scopes such as Accounting Information System, Audit, Islamic Accounting, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, International Accounting, Behavioral Accounting, Environmental Accounting, Taxation, and Public Sector Accounting. Therefore, it is expected that this conference will attractboth academics and practitioners to join. I am looking forward to meeting all participants. "Creating Predictive Value of Accounting Information in Supporting Business Agility to Enhance Entity Sustainability"
The Covid-19 pandemic has created challenges and opportunities in various aspects, not only in health but also in business scope. The business ability to predict value of accounting information becomes crucial issues to continually sustain the company. Company agility will open new opportunities to develop, grow, and utilize new strategies to face New Normal Era. This pandemic created opportunities for digital technology and the rise of data analytics and artificial intelligence to grow in the application for the accounting profession and significantly affect the profession and practices of all sizes. Embracing digitalization in an accounting perspective will be the case for engaging with Sustainable Development Goals aligned to related core issues covering financial accounting, auditing, ethics, judgment, and corporate governance.
Universities are required to be able to prepare and equip the young generation with essential skills, such as the ability to communicate, have the critical thinking, compete, and survive in facing the fourth industrial revolution. In the future, the accountant profession needs to embrace the digital era. Nevertheless, the future accountants must be increasingly adaptive to the use of robotic and data analysis (big data), mobile computing, and the use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) as a concept of planning and managing company resources. Regarding the fourth industrial revolution, which is marked by enhancement of technology and rapid growth information access challenge, Universities are required to be able to prepare and equip the young generation with competence and skills to compete and survive in facing the fourth industrial revolution. Therefore, the future accountants must be increasingly adaptive to the use of technology, data analysis and embracing digitalization to achieve sustainable Innovations for managing company resources.
Apprehending the condition elaborated previously, the Accounting Study Program of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta in collaboration with several universities in Indonesia and abroad hold the 6th International Conference on Accounting and Finance which is called ICAF 7 with the theme “Creating Predictive Value of Accounting Information in Supporting Business Agility to Enhance Entity Sustainability”.as an effort to answer the challenges in the accounting profession in the era of the fourth industrial revolution and to face New Normal Era.
